Welcome. I’M Areeza Ali, a psychodynamic therapist in the bay area and across california

It’s time to finally understand why you feel this way.

Welcome.

I’m Areeza, a licensed psychotherapist in the San Francisco Bay Area with over a decade of clinical experience working with adults, children, adolescents, and families. I believe that creating an intentional space where you can slow down allows for a more honest and connected understanding of yourself. I listen closely not only to what you say, but also to what may be harder to articulate including the parts of your experience that are still forming or not yet fully spoken. We may do this through metaphors, dream analysis, imagery and connecting to the body. In my work, you’ll find deep curiosity, warmth, and openness as we explore your wishes, hopes, fears, and losses. You will come to learn that I am mindfully attending to and holding the themes that emerge in our work, and will help you connect to things you have shared in previous sessions. I find that people looking for this level of attunement helps facilitate longer term transformative work.

My approach is shaped not only by rigorous clinical training, but also by lived experience. As a Bay Area native, a parent, and a first-generation child of immigrants, I’m mindful of how culture, history, and relationship quietly shape the inner world and the therapeutic space. These experiences shape how I hold complexity and how I stay attuned to the realities of people’s lives.

While I work with people for different lengths of time, I often practice long-term therapy, offering steadiness and a familiar connection as you navigate the waves of your life. Currently, I see adults in my private practice who are seeking more depth and meaning in their lives. If you think we might be a good fit, I welcome you to reach out for an initial consultation.

My style

Promote self-awareness through an exploration of the past and the present.

Many approaches to emotional distress focus on strategies or surface-level fixes. While these tools may offer some relief, they can leave people feeling like something is still missing. I believe your inner world deserves to be met with presence, depth, and genuine understanding, not just quick solutions. That’s why I work in a way that is relational, reflective, and shaped by your unique experiences. The work we do together is never rushed, and it’s always grounded in what’s meaningful to you.

First, we create space to explore the patterns and internal conflicts that quietly shape how you feel, relate, and move through the world. We will look at your past experiences as well as present ones, along with your relationship to your socio-cultural surround.

Then, we begin to understand where those patterns come from and how they’ve been serving you even if they no longer feel helpful. Through our work together, you’ll begin to reconnect with parts of yourself that have been overlooked or silenced, and build the clarity, self-trust, and emotional insight needed to live with greater depth, ease, authenticity and connection to yourself.

My guiding principles

Emotional Safety and Trust

It’s important that we create a strong therapeutic relationship where you can feel secure enough to share painful or confusing experiences without judgement.

Warmth

Even in virtual sessions, I want you to feel my presence, care and attention on you.

Curiosity

We will explore your inner and outer world with intentionality and openness.
